How Gopher Wood Prevents Warping

Welcome to Gopher Wood

Hey there, welcome to Gopher Wood. We manufacture factory-finished lumber right outside of Nashville in the hills of Tennessee.

Gopher Wood is sold through wholesale and distribution outlets—your local supply houses and lumber yards are where you’ll find it.

Our Standard Finish

Right now, Gopher Wood comes in Chestnut stain, a medium brown color that works well in most parts of the country. We also have the ability to do custom colors, but Chestnut is our standard because it’s consistent, popular, and timeless.

The Lumber We Start With

A lot of people ask what wood we use. We offer both imported and domestic cedar, which means two different price points.

  • Western Red Cedar – This is the one most people already know. It’s kiln-dried, old growth, and very stable. A premium product with a long track record.
  • Japanese Cedar – Plantation-grown after World War II, these trees are now about 70 years old. It’s still considered old growth, and it’s a more budget-friendly option that delivers great value.

Built-In Protection

Every Gopher Wood post comes with a PostSaver sleeve, backed by a 20-year guarantee. When you do the math, the cost of ownership for a traditional unstained fence versus a Gopher Wood fence with PostSaver sleeves is almost half.

We start with kiln-dried cedar, which reduces warping and shrinking. From there, we run the boards through our finishing line. The result is lumber that looks beautiful, resists warping, cracking, and twisting, and is sealed on all six sides against the elements.

Why It Matters

In today’s market, most fences are raw, untreated, or just plain yellow lumber. Gopher Wood gives you a choice of color, durability, and protection—all right out of the bundle.

So, whether you’re a fence company wanting to give your customers more options, or a homeowner looking for a fence that lasts, Gopher Wood is a product worth considering.
